Why Edge?

1. Why “Edge”? What distinguishes our program from all the others?
In one word “Results”! No other program even comes close to having accomplishing what we have done. Our reputation in the industry is second to none. We have a 24 year proven track record that shows our program, system and methodology work. We are the Gold standard in the industry by which other programs are judged. Please see our Champions page for more information.

2. How long has “The Edge” been in business?
We were the first wrestling school of its kind in the United States and have been in business since 1984. Please see our About us page for more information.

3. What kind of track record do we have?
Our record speaks for itself. We have had Champions in every age group and at every level. No other similar wrestling program can compare with what “Edge” wrestlers have accomplished. Please see our Champions page for detailed results.

4. What about the coaching staff?
The Edge has been run by Ernie Monaco since it’s inception in 1984. Coach Monaco is still present at almost all Edge classes to this day. The staff has also grown to include Dave Esposito, Greg Francesca, Eric Swick, and Karl Monaco. You can find out more information about our coaching staff at our Staff page.

5. When do classes meet?
Edge classes generally run on two different schedules throughout the calendar year. The two schedules are: “In-season” and “Out-of-Season”. During the “In-Season” schedule classes meet once during the week and on Sunday afternoons. When operating under the “Out-of-Season” schedule classes meet twice during the week either Monday / Wednesday or Tuesday / Thursday. You can find out more information about our coaching staff at the Calendar page of this website.

The Edge is committed to teaching and mentoring
its students through the sport of wrestling to strive for
individual excellence in all aspects of their lives.

6. What does it cost?
The cost of tuition varies depending on the length of the enrollment term. Students have the option to enroll for terms ranging anywhere in length from one month to one year. The cost of tuition is proportionately more the shorter the enrollment term. Tuition fees are billed monthly.

7. What about the ride?
Edge wrestlers are represented by 3/4 of the state. Often many of our students car-pool with other parents on a rotating basis. The bottom line is most dedicated wrestlers feel it is a well worth the drive.

8. Why not just join a program that is more local and convenient?
It is human nature to take the easy way out, and that’s exactly what many people do when choosing a wrestling school. If everything was equal that would make a lot of sense; but given the vast difference in our program and its track record of success, why would anyone settle for giving their child second best? Being a success in wrestling is about making a commitment, a sacrifice. The sacrifice is made not only on the mat and on the part of the wrestler, but also by the parents. We like to think we make it well worth the trip, and if you look at where our members come from, its obvious they think so too.

9. My son isn’t good enough yet, should we wait until he’s a little better?
No! Do not loose the time he could be using to get better waiting for him to be so called ready. Attending “The Edge” is about learning, not competing. It’s about being the best that you can be however far that takes you. We have students in their first year and first day of wrestling and we have students who are national champions. The sooner our wrestlers start in our program the more successful they seem to become. Waiting until high school isn’t always the best idea, although it’s certainly never too late to improve.

10. I heard only the good guys get attention, is that true?
Absolutely not... This is a false statement often made by supporters of other programs to discourage the so-called average kids from attending The Edge. Maybe it is a means of others justifying why we have produced so many outstanding kids. We don’t know, but it is false statement, and couldn’t be anything further from the truth.

11. Have “Edge wrestler been given college scholarships?
Yes! More Edge wrestlers have received college scholarships for wrestling than any other similar wrestling program in the state. College coaches often frequent “The Edge” recruiting students who attend our program. “The Edge” has a national reputation of producing champion college wrestlers. We also have 24 years of developing contacts and relationships with coaches that aide our students in this process.

12. Why should I send my son to “The Edge”?
Because you want to give him the best possible opportunity to fulfill his true potential and succeed. If you compare every aspect of our program to those of our competitors, you’ll find aside from the geographic location, there is no place like “The Edge”. Since 1984 The Edge has had a history of outstanding results. We have a national reputation as a leader in the field. Why settle for anything less? Isn’t it time you gave your son the best, isn’t it time you gave him “The Edge”?
